A Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) can help you breathe easier through chronic lung disease education and care planning. This includes education on your particular lung condition, learning breathing and coughing techniques, and identifying lung triggers and reviewing avoidance strategies. They can review treatments and use of devices including inhalers, mucus clearing devices and oxygen equipment. They can create a written respiratory action plan which is a personalized plan that outlines what to do when your breathing is feeling well, and what to do when your breathing is worsening. Lastly, a CRE can connect you to resources already in your community.
